If Selected for the Band There is a sight-reading rehearsal held on a Tuesday night at Denham Springs Junior High, but the majority of the rehearsals and concert are held during “Honor Band Weekend” on the campus of Southeastern University in Hammond. Students spend the weekend overnight there. The CMS Booster Club provides chaperones and arranges hotel and transportation accommodations. Students will be required to pay a portion of the hotel fee, approximately $50 or less, TBD. Students must be present for 100% of all rehearsals and the concert in order to participate
Pre-Registered Audition Times Arrive 20-30 minutes early at University Lab School pre-register and warm-up. Bring instrument, music, and mallets (for percussion). As an extra incentive to practice over the Thanksgiving Holidays, students have been given a Practice Challenge! There are 3-4 activities that students can choose from each day. To get an A, students should choose 1 activity from each day's column for a total of 8 activities. Students who go above and beyond and have 10 or more activities completed will win a prize! Of course students can complete the day's activities on ANY day, however, they should be completing one activity out of each column throughout the break. Going out of town? No worries! The chart will be due by December 2nd so students should have plenty of time to complete the challenge! Parents Please Help! Please mark off the activities your child does and sign the challenge chart so they can receive credit. Thanks for your encouragement! 6th Grade Practice Challenge ![]()
