Dear Parents and Guardians, The LMEA State Band Festival and Assessment is on Wednesday, May 10th in Talbot Hall on the campus of Nicholls University. The schedule for the festival day is as follows: Wear maroon band polo, black pants with belt loops, black belt, black tall socks, all black shoes to school (no joggers, leggings, or tall boots)
Since we will be arriving back to CMS after school hours, please make sure transportation is arranged for your child. We will send a remind text when we are close. To sign up for this announcement, text @cmband8 to 81010. There is no cost for this field trip, it has been covered by the fundraised monies from the World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser. Unfortunately there will be no space available on the bus for chaperones, but you are more than welcome to follow the bus! We would love to have lots of parental support in the audience for this big performance. Email me at [email protected] if you have questions!
The CMS Mustang Band wrapped up day two of solo and ensemble festival today. It was impressive to see the number of students that had prepared multiple events. Some doing several duets in addition to their solos! We are very proud of how well prepared the students were and how well they represented the band program. Congratulations!
Today was the start of our LMEA District Solo and Ensemble Festival. Many of our students have been working hard to prepare a solo or duet with a partner to perform for a judge for feedback and scoring. Students are rated on a "I" to "V" system with a "I" or "Superior" being the highest rating. They are scored in areas such as tone, intonation, technique, balance, musical interpretation and musical effect.
Below is a list of the students who received Superior Ratings today. Congratulations! Congratulations to the Central Mustang Band beginning band members that performed on April 1st at the Greater Baton Rouge Beginner Honor Band! This honor band, sponsored by Zeagler's Music, was conducted by Ms. Katie Codina and included students from all over the Greater Baton Rouge area. This annual event has to be the largest gathering of beginning students in the state and is such a treat to see! Students rehearsed for just a few hours before putting on a fun and entertaining concert. |
