I would like to encourage your child to sign up to audition for the District IV Middle School Honor Band.  This is a unique opportunity where selected students can perform with outstanding musicians from throughout the Greater Baton Rouge area.  Membership in this prestigious group is a great addition to any young musician’s resume!  Here are the details:

Audition:

• Saturday, December 12 at East Ascension High School (at a time that will be individually assigned to the student, TBD, the entire process only takes 30-45 mins). Be sure you are available for all the honor band rehearsal times and concert before auditioning!
• Audition Requirements (also found in the back of the student’s red band book)
  • Etude found at www.districtiv.org  
  • Scales found at the bottom of the page at http://www.dmsband.org/Honorband.htm
  • Short sight-reading piece, practice with sightreadingfactory.com
• Tutoring:  All students auditioning should sign up for free tutoring on my office door, available after school.
• Results will be posted and e-mailed the same day

If Selected for the Band:

• Students must be present for 100% of all rehearsals and performance in order to participate in Honor Band weekend
  • Tuesday, January 12 - Rehearsal - 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM at Denham Springs Junior High
  • Thursday, January 14 - Rehearsal - 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM at SLU
  • Friday, January 15 - Rehearsal - 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at SLU
  • Saturday, January 16 - Dress Rehearsal - 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM at SLU
  • Saturday, January 16 - CONCERT - 11:00 AM at SLU
• The CMS Booster Club will provide chaperones and arrange for housing for the students for Honor Band weekend.

We would like to all extend and great big "THANK YOU" to the CMS Band Booster Club for providing pizza and water during the game!

The CMS Mustang Band played its first home game and pep rally of the year on Thursday, September 17.  Highlights included a rocking rendition of "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple and CMS favorites like Mustang Mambo and GO!  

The booster club would like to give a huge "THANKS" to all the parents who came to help out with providing water for the students.  It was a hot game, so they definitely appreciated it!

We are now seeking donations from anyone willing to help with providing sandwiches and chips at the next game on September 24 during half time.  Please message [email protected] to help!
