On February 6 we will begin our 2016-2017 Fundraiser to help raise money for the Central Middle School Mustang Band. We are pleased to be selling World’s Finest Chocolate bars at $1.00 a bar and the chocolate covered almonds at $2.00 each. The band will be able to keep half the proceeds for each item sold. Some of the items and events we are raising money for include:
This fundraiser will benefit all the members of the band program so we are asking for full participation from everyone in order to make this a success. Each student will be required to sell at least one box of chocolate bars OR chocolate covered almonds and return the cash/checks in the envelope provided with the box (each box costs a total of $60.00). Students not wishing to sell may choose to pay an opt- out fee of $30.00, due by the end of the fundraiser. Students must participate in the fundraiser, or pay the opt-out fee, in order to participate in their grade level trip. Receipts will be given out after the money is counted. If the money is short, it will be noted on the receipt and the difference will be expected to be turned in within the week. When turning in money, make sure the envelope is labeled with the student’s name and please exchange any loose change with bills or a check to make counting easier! Additional boxes can be issued as the money for the sold boxes are turned in. The sale will end on February 24 at which point all the money and any unsold chocolate will be due.
Let us know if you have any questions. We thank you so much for your support of the Central Middle School Band! Sincerely, Katie Codina, Band Director Central Middle School katie.codina@apsb.org Eddie Holladay Booster Club President the2holladays@gmail.com The L.M.E.A. Solo and Ensemble Festival is an opportunity for our young musicians to play a solo or duet for assessment. Students receive a rating of 1 to 5, with 1 or “Superior” being the highest rating. Students receiving a 1 will also be presented with a medal at the Spring Concert. Having this accolade is a great resume builder and helps the student in the future when applying for the L.B.A. State Honor Band! Students will be picking a solo and/or duet to play and will be given some time to work on them in class. Students can be shy about playing a solo, but the experience is invaluable for a musician, so we encourage all students to sign up! The Solo and Ensemble Festival costs $5.00 per person/per event (i.e., a student playing a solo AND duet would pay $10.00). We turn this fee into L.M.E.A. who sanctions the event, hires the judge and provides the medals. We have not set a date yet for the festival, but we are looking at the last week of March and it will be during elective block. If your child would like to participate, please return the bottom half of the permission form below with the appropriate fee by Friday, March 3. ![]()
