The Central Mustang Band was very proud to have several of its members selected to perform in the LSU Junior Oaks Festival Band. The band met February 16-18, 2017 on the campus of LSU in the state of the art Tiger Band facilities. The students rehearsed with special guest conductors, performed in small ensembles, and did group lessons with master musicians on their instruments. They also had the opportunity to sit in with one of the LSU concert bands as they performed!
THIS CONCERT HAS BEEN MOVED TO MARCH 7, all other details remain the same.
Our Pre-Festival Performance is Wednesday, February 22nd at 6:30 p.m. in the CMS Gym. This is a required performance for our 7th and 8th grade students. Parents, friends, and family are highly encouraged to attend this performance to hear the music we are preparing for District Festival Assessment. Since many people are unable to attend the actual Festival during the school day at Zachary High in March, this is may be your only opportunity! What is a Pre-Festival Performance? Students will play their entire Festival program for an audience and a local panel of band directors. The concert will also include a demonstration of the sight-reading process, where the band will receive a piece of music they have never seen before and perform it on the spot. The band directors will give comments to help us grow in the last few rehearsals leading up to the actual Festival. Band Uniform – Maroon band polo, black pants with belt loops, black tall socks, black belt, shirt tucked in Report Time – 6:10 p.m. (we should be finished no later than 7:30 p.m.) To get an “A"
